THE PROJECT BRIEF
In this illustrative project scenario, a corporate approached Bharat Scientific World to help develop a school science laboratory. The school had a room available, but very little suitable laboratory infrastructure. The paint was worn, and old canteen tables were being used as makeshift lab furniture.
The requirement was not simply to supply equipment. It was to assess the space, understand the school's needs and plan a practical transformation.
SITE VISIT AND LABORATORY ASSESSMENT
Our work began with a site visit and a requirements audit. We reviewed the room layout, existing furniture, storage and available utility points, then discussed the practical activities the school wanted students to perform.
This assessment helped identify what could be retained, what needed replacement and how the available budget could be used effectively.
LABORATORY DESIGN AND PLANNING
We developed the laboratory layout around student workspaces, teacher supervision and clear movement between benches.
The planning covered laboratory tables, workbenches, storage, washing facilities and equipment placement. Furniture and equipment were considered together, so the room would support practical lessons rather than simply accommodate a collection of instruments.
An itemised proposal gave the corporate team a clear view of the recommended work and supply requirements before proceeding.
TRANSFORMING THE LEARNING SPACE
The transformation focused on moving away from improvised canteen tables towards purpose-built laboratory workspaces.
The objective was a clean, organised and usable science laboratory: suitable benches for experiments, designated storage for apparatus and enough working space for students and teachers.
Equipment selection was planned around the school's teaching requirements, with attention to everyday use, storage and future replenishment.
